German tennis pro Jan-Lennard Struff suffered a setback in his preparations for the US Open. The 33-year-old from Warstein lost his opening match at the ATP Masters in Cincinnati 6:4, 4:6, 3:6 to Stefanos Tsitsipas despite leading the set.
The Greek took revenge for his defeat against Struff at the ATP tournament in Halle. The German had won there in three sets in June.
At the Olympic Games in Paris, Struff had to cancel his second round singles match due to injury. In doubles, he then fought his way to the quarterfinals with Dominik Koepfer.
