Subaru launches the hybrid SUV you were waiting for

The 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid combines 194 hp hybrid power, EyeSight technology and innovative design. It arrives in autumn 2025 with maximum efficiency and off-road capability.

Subaru of America, Inc. has announced the launch of the new 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, marking the return of this hybrid model in its third generation. This compact vehicle will be available in autumn 2025 and will integrate a next-generation series-parallel hybrid system and Subaru’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, designed to optimize range and capability without compromising off-road performance.

Advanced hybrid technology

The 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid combines a 2.5-liter SUBARU BOXER internal combustion engine with electric motors, achieving a total output of 194 horsepower. This system allows the combustion engine, electric motors or both to be used to propel the vehicle, adapting to conditions both on and off the asphalt.

In addition, the SUV uses a high-capacity lithium-ion battery with 1.1 kWh, guaranteeing greater energy efficiency compared to its non-hybrid versions. All this is complemented by the Lineartronic CVT transmission and features such as X-MODE with descent control, offering 8.7 inches of ground clearance, which positions it at the level of several full-size SUVs.

Safety and driver assistance technology

The Crosstrek Hybrid will be equipped with the latest version of Subaru’s award-winning EyeSight Driver Assist system. This system has been improved to operate more efficiently under a wider range of conditions, more quickly identifying cyclists and pedestrians at intersections. Its features include automatic reverse braking, blind spot detection with lane change assistance, and rear cross traffic alert.

New is the Emergency Stop Assist system, which automatically stops the vehicle if the driver does not respond to warnings from advanced adaptive cruise control. If activated, the vehicle turns on the hazard lights, unlocks the doors and contacts emergency services through SUBARU STARLINK Connected Services.

Innovation in infotainment and design

In the technological section, the model will have a 12.3-inch digital panel and an 11.6-inch SUBARU STARLINK multimedia system with wireless compatibility for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

This system offers touch controls for audio functions, climate control and vehicle settings, plus over-the-air updates and connectivity options such as SiriusXM, Bluetooth and a rearview camera.

Aesthetically, the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid will feature two exclusive colors: Sand Dune Pearl and Citron Yellow Pearl, along with 18-inch dark alloy wheels.

Subaru will soon announce pricing and full specifications for the model ahead of its arrival in dealerships in fall 2025.
