Success in THY Europa League after 16 years

Monaco, representing France, continued its leadership in the THY Europa League, Europe’s “number 1” organization on a club basis in basketball.

In the regular season played in league format, 18 teams played their 19th week matches on Thursday and Friday.

Fenerbahçe Beko and Anadolu Efes, one of the teams representing Turkey in the Europa League, competed against each other this week. Fenerbahçe Beko won the Turkish derby 84-76 with the effective play of Marko Guduric and ended its 3-game losing streak. With one match missing, the yellow-dark blue team finished the week in 5th place with 11 wins.

Anadolu Efes, on the other hand, lost for the second time in a row and remained at 10 wins and finished the week in 10th place.

AFTER 16 YEARS, A TURKISH PIVOT BECAME THE MVP

After 16 years, a Turkish center player became the “Most Valuable Player (MVP)” of the week in the THY Europa League.

National basketball player Ömer Faruk Yurtseven, who plays for Panathinaikos AKTOR in Greece, scored 27 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists in the match where his team beat Virtus Segafredo Bologna 111-90. Reaching a total efficiency score of 34, Ömer Faruk showed the best performance of his Europa League career and received the title of MVP of the 19th week.

Before Ömer Faruk, one of the Turkish centers, Oğuz Savaş, won this title in 2009. Oğuz Savaş, who plays for Fenerbahçe, became the MVP of the week with 27 points and 41 efficiency points against Lottomatica Roma on January 15, 2009.

During this 16-year period, Shane Larkin, Scottie Wilbekin, Ersan İlyasova and Emir Preldzic, who later received a Turkish passport and played for the national team, also managed to become MVP.

MONACO CONTINUED ITS LEADERSHIP

Monaco continued its leadership in the THY Europa League.

Monaco, led by Mike James, achieved its 13th victory by beating ALBA Berlin 105-90 away and maintained its lead ahead of Olympiacos on goal difference.

ERGİN ATAMAN’S TEAM CONTINUES TO WIN BY EXCEEDING “100”

The last champion, Panathinaikos AKTOR, coached by Turkish head coach Ergin Ataman, achieved its 4th consecutive victory.

The Greek team beat Virtus Segafredo Bologna 111-90 in the match in which Ömer Faruk Yurtseven starred and rose to the 3rd place.

Cedi Osman, another Turkish player who played in the Virtus Segafredo Bologna match, contributed to the victory with 11 points.

Panathinaikos AKTOR showed an important offensive performance by managing to exceed the 100-point threshold in 3 of its last 4 matches.

– MATCH OF THE WEEK PANATHINAIKOS-PARTIZAN

In the most important match of the 20th week of the THY Europa League, Panathinaikos AKTOR, coached by Ergin Ataman, will face Partizan, coached by Zeljko Obradovic.

This match will be played on Thursday, January 9 at 22.15 CET at OAKA Altion in Athens.
