Sunny weekend ends with cloudburst and cold weather change

It’s about enjoying Sunday’s sun and warmth, because it won’t happen again in the coming period.

This is what meteorologist on duty at the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) Trine Pedersen says on Sunday morning.

– It will be a nice and warm Sunday during the day. After 6 p.m., moist air comes from the North Sea, which can trigger showers with rain and thunder, she says.

There is a risk of local cloudbursts and thunder in most of Jutland on Sunday evening – with the exception of East Jutland and northernmost Jutland.

The criterion for cloudburst is more than 15 millimeters of precipitation in 30 minutes.

– There are divided opinions about where cloudbursts are most likely. As it looks now, it is in central and northern Jutland, says Trine Pedersen.

TV 2 Vejret wrote on Saturday that a handful of municipalities in the coming days may receive the amount of precipitation that Denmark receives in a normal year.

However, Trine Pedersen cannot confirm that.

Up to and including 20 July, according to TV 2 Vejret, 559.4 millimeters of precipitation has fallen nationwide. On average, just under 760 millimeters fall per year.

Vejen, Vejle, Billund and Esbjerg are each already almost up to the annual level.

Sunday’s showers subside in the evening and spread eastwards towards Funen and Zealand on Monday.

– The showers become less intense at the end of the evening and during the night, says Trine Pedersen.

It can be up to 27 degrees on Sunday.
