An eerie silence prevails in Dhaka University area. Police-BGB have taken position around the entire campus. Additional members of the law enforcement force have been deployed since Thursday morning. No one is allowed to enter from outside. However, those who are university officials and employees are being admitted inside after looking at their identity cards. Police stationed at every entrance. This scene was seen in the university area from Thursday morning.
Meanwhile, quota reform activists have announced a nationwide ‘complete shutdown’. However, the traffic on Sainslab, New Market road is almost normal. However, public transport is seen relatively less. Rickshaws, Sinjis and private cars are more common.
Besides, the students have blocked the road in front of BRAC University in the capital. Moreover, the students of East West University are seen preparing to block the road with sticks. However, there was no news of gathering of students elsewhere. So far seven people have been killed in clashes in various parts of the country in the quota reform movement. Many students are injured.
