Olympic dream couple Lea Schüller and sailor Lara Vadlau made it to the games in Paris together. But in the future, the FC Bayern national striker and the Austrian will go their separate ways. Vadlau confirmed the surprising end of their relationship in an interview.

“It’s great that we both made it to Paris. Maybe we’ll run into each other a few times. We rarely see each other, only about 100 days a year, because Lara is traveling a lot and training hard to prepare for the Games,” said Lea Schüller happily in the run-up to the Olympic Games.

The FC Bayern striker qualified for the Olympic football tournament with the German women’s national team. Her long-time friend, sailor Lara Vadlau, also qualified for the major event. But the sporting dream couple is now history.

Lara Vadlau won Olympic gold in sailing

“Lea is no longer my partner,” the Austrian clarified in an interview with the radio station “Ö3” and added: “Of course I am very proud of her and we are still very good friends and I am keeping my fingers crossed for her.”

At the Olympic sailing competitions off the coast of Marseille, the 29-year-old won the only gold medal of the Games for the Alpine Republic so far. Schüller can still win bronze in the match for third place in the football tournament against the world champions from Spain on Friday afternoon (3:00 p.m., LIVE on sport.de).

The top German striker was unable to take part in the semi-final against the USA due to an inflamed patella tendon in her left knee. However, nothing seems to stand in the way of her 67th international appearance in the decisive battle for the medal. At club level, Schüller has been hunting for goals in the Bundesliga for FC Bayern Munich since 2020.
