A 38-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having raped and robbed a person with a degenerative disease in the municipality of Belmonte, the Judiciary Police (PJ) announced this Friday.
In a statement, the PJ said that “the suspect and victim met about a year ago, when she was admitted to a long-term care service, and there was no intimate relationship between them.”
On October 5, “without prior arrangement, the suspect went to the victim’s residence, and after they both returned from dinner, he allegedly requested shelter for that night, coming early in the morning to force her to perform sexual acts against his will,” he added.
According to the PJ, after the alleged sexual assaults, the suspect “ended up stealing several personal objects from the victim, as well as some money”, and left the place.
The man was arrested last Tuesday and, after being presented to the judicial authorities, was placed in pre-trial detention.
