Domestic. An Albanian who is suspected of having tried to murder a female worker in a social office needs an interpreter in Albanian. This despite the fact that he has lived in Sweden for 30 years, reports Shared news.
A 63-year-old man has been detained on probable cause on suspicion of attempted murder after a knife attack against a worker at the social welfare office in Mellerud earlier this week.
According to prosecutor Robert Beckard, the man tried to kill a female employee in her 20s by stabbing her in the chest with a stabbing weapon and hitting her on the head.
During the attack, other people intervened at the scene and detained the perpetrator until the police arrived. The injured caseworker was taken to hospital but is said to have managed with minor injuries.
The detained 63-year-old has lived in Sweden since 1995 but still needs an interpreter in Albanian.
He has on several occasions had court proceedings concerning his social allowance, writes Samnytt.
According to information given to Sveriges Radio, the motive behind the attack is believed to be dissatisfaction with a social services decision on compulsory custody of the man’s children.
