Suspected Vandal Who Desecrated Prigozhin’s Grave Detained in St. Petersburg

The perpetrator was caught at the Porokhovskoye Cemetery.

St. Petersburg police have detained a possible desecrator of the grave of the head of the Wagner PMC, Yevgeny Prigozhin. He turned out to be a 36-year-old native of the Voronezh region.

A security guard at the Porokhovskoye Cemetery on Ryabovskoye Shosse contacted the police on Sunday afternoon, July 21, the Operational Coverage news agency reports. According to the security guard, he noticed a man who had pasted offensive posters on Prigozhin’s grave.

During the investigation, the police found out that the detainee had a criminal record for attempted theft. In November 2000, he was sentenced to a fine of 5,000 rubles.

Now a criminal case has been opened against the alleged vandal under Part 1 of Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, “desecration of the bodies of the deceased and their burial places.”

Earlier it was reported that the monument on Prigozhin’s grave in St. Petersburg was doused with white paint.

Let us recall that businessman and founder of the Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin died in the crash of his business jet in the Tver region on August 23, 2023.
