Swedish plane flies over Bornholm after rejection of Russian plane

Swedish military aircraft on Friday rejected a Russian reconnaissance flight over the Baltic Sea together with Nato.

The Swedish aircraft crossed Danish airspace and Bornholm in connection with the task, the Swedish Air Force writes on the social media X.

– Sweden is well integrated in Nato, which was shown when they passed Danish airspace over Bornholm in order to arrive quickly, the air force writes.

According to the Swedish media Expressen, a Jas 39 Gripen fighter aircraft took part in the effort.

The Swedish defense has a rejection alert which is tasked with protecting Sweden’s borders around the clock.

The Danish air force has a similar readiness, which regularly also rejects flights over the Baltic Sea.

At the beginning of September, the Danish rejection response had so far been deployed 58 times in 2024. 57 of the times involved incidents over the Baltic Sea.
