Swiatek’s Poland beat

After Bronzetti’s victory, Italy deludes itself with Paolini, recovered by a cynical Swiatek: it will therefore be the double with Jas and Errani that will decide who between Italy and Poland will fly to the final of the Billie Jean King Cup

Dream blues! Lucia Bronzetti and double Paolini/Errani give Italy a gift Tathiana Garbin the final, the second consecutive after last season’s, of the Billie Jean King Cup against the winner of the match on Tuesday 19 November between Great Britain and Slovakia. Thanks to an incredible performance by the Italians, starting with Bronzetti who turned the prediction against Linetteup to Jasmine, who after coming very close to achieving the feat in singles against Iga Swiatek she took revenge as a couple with Sara.

Bronzetti paves the way for Italy

Choice instead of Elisabetta Cocciarettodefeated in the first match against Japan, Lucia Bronzetti gives reason to Tathiana Garbin winning the first match of the semi-final of Billie Jean King Cup between Italy and Poland against Magda Linette. A somewhat unexpected success in two sets (6-4 7-6) – at least in this mode – for the Rimini girl, especially looking at the ranking, which sees the two players 40 positions apart (38 and 78).

Bronzetti In fact, he started very well in the first set, going ahead by a break in the third game, only to then drop slightly and give up the serve in turn in the sixth. The counterbreak, however, seems to wake up Lucia, who immediately comes back ahead by winning the next game in response, and then closes the set at 6-4.

In the second set Bronzetti he starts even stronger, immediately winning a break and then moving ahead by two in the fifth to go up 4-1. At this point, however, he undergoes the return of Linettewho immediately recovered the two innings to bring the score back to 4-4. At this point the inertia of the match seems to be entirely on the Polish side, but Lucia grits her teeth and holds her serves until she secures the tie-break, where she triumphs by

Paolini deceives against Swiatek

She came within a hair’s breadth of the feat Jasmine Paoliniwho after going ahead by a set was unable to exploit the chances in her favor and then suffered a comeback from Iga Swiatekwinner with the result of 3-6 6-4 6-4.

After the first games went away quickly, it was the Italian who got her first break points (2) in the fourth game, without however managing to convert them, unlike the Pole, who in the next one took advantage of the only one in her favor to break the beat the opponent. From the break immediately Paolini however, she raised her level, winning the following four games which allowed her to win the first set 6-3.

In the second set, Jasmine is still in control of the match, although she was guilty of cynicism. In fact, there are six break points not exploited by the Italian, who then capitulates in the tenth game which allows Swiatek to send the match to the third set. Third set which is also won in this case by Iga, who makes the most of her opportunities to get two breaks, unlike Paolini, who despite the five break points in her favor only managed to break the serve in one game. It will therefore be doubles that will decide who will fly in the final.

Paolini and Errani push Italy into the final

After coming very close to achieving the feat in singles, Paolini she took her revenge as a couple with Sara Errani beating Swiatek e Katarzyna Kawa with a double 7-5. The first set starts in a very balanced way, with both couples perhaps feeling the brunt of the tension of the match a little. In reality, it is the Italians who risk the most, as they first have to face a deciding point in the fourth game and then come back from 15-40 in the tenth.

The wasted opportunities, however, take away the Polish team’s security, and in the eleventh game they recover from 40-15 until they lose the serve, allowing Paolini and Errani to win the first set. The second set, however, is full of reversals of results, with the Italians starting by immediately finding the break, then losing five consecutive games ending up 5-1 down and finally winning the next six for an epic comeback that earned Italy another final after the one achieved last season and lost against Canada.
