The reaction of the Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias was immediate after the “Jungle” publication last Friday regarding a police officer who was informed, with a delay of one year, by the 424 Military Hospital that he is suffering from cancer. As it became known, the minister ordered a Sworn Administrative Examination into the police officer’s complaint.

This case, which was shown on our online website, immediately took on dimensions and caused public feeling. As the complaint stated, 57-year-old Thomas Pouliopoulos, in 2022, went in for appendicitis surgery and had a biopsy done. In December 2023, i.e. one year later, he was called from the hospital to announce that he was suffering from advanced cancer.

The tragic thing about this case, according to the criminologist Nikos Dialynas, who undertook to legally defend the policeman, is that if he had been informed earlier he would have had time to deal with the disease and his health would not have deteriorated so much.

It is recalled that last Friday, shortly after 10:30 a.m., a complaint was filed with the Prosecutor of the Military Court of Thessaloniki by the victim himself against specific doctors and against all those responsible.
