The decision of the Political Secretariat in detail
“The KE of SYRIZA-PS, the highest organ of the party and authentic interpreter of the Statute, by voting in favor of the motion of no confidence, declared Stefanos Kasselakis automatically dismissed from the office of the president of the party and activated the provisions of the statute for the holding of an extraordinary Congress party.

Respecting the decisions of the collective bodies of the Party and observing the constitution and party procedures is an obligation for every member and executive and no one is superior to them.
Therefore, this issue is over.”
Theodora Tzakri’s announcement
“The replacement process that was followed in order to challenge and dismiss the elected president of SYRIZA-PS Stefanos Kasselakis for a three-year term is not only a historical political misstep, but also an irregular action that leads to political and administrative paralysis of the party organization.
The haste of the party bureaucracy to depose the President Stefanos Kasselakis, elected for a three-year term, at the same time as the decision of the Central Committee, causes political and administrative paralysis in the Party Organization, since no valid administrative act or act of representation of the party can be carried out .
Any powers of attorney for current day-to-day management of the party given by the president are valid only while the authorizing president remains in office.
If the delegate fell, as the party bureaucracy claims, the proxies were also dragged along.
There is no principal, no principal.
So the power of attorney of Stefanos Kasselakis to Christos Mavrokephalidis for the management of the party’s finances is either in effect with the president in his place or it was abolished because the president resigned and legally accompanied it by abolishing it.
The solution is one: the unanimous and unanimous recognition of the legal rule that the president remains in office legally, politically and institutionally until he is replaced or re-elected.
Neither legally nor politically is it meant for the party to remain headless.
Otherwise, the prolongation of the administrative vacuum entails political collapse and economic bankruptcy”.
Contradictions and refutations
Who has the administrative and legal responsibility of the party brought new conflicts between the Kasselakis side and his internal party opponents.
Early on, before the meeting of the Political Secretariat, there was information about a dialogue between the financial manager of SYRIZA Christos Mavrokephalides and Manolis Kapnisakis as well as Stefanos Kasselakis on the matter.
In this discussion, Mr. Mavrokefalidis allegedly replied that Stefanos Kasselakis was responsible for the legal part.
Later, Rania Svigou reportedly said that Stefanos Kasselakis raised the issue of who is fiscally and legally responsible for the party, as well as whether he is the President.
According to the same information, Christos Mavrokephalidis then “emptied” Stefanos Kasselakis.
He said that to the relevant question asked by Stefanos Kasselakis about who is administratively and fiscally responsible, Mr. Mavrokefalidis replied that “I, Mavrokefalidis, am responsible”.
And Stefanos Kasselakis told him “open my office for me”.
So, “Kasselakis is lying in all the leaks he made tonight” claims the other side.
Also, Theodora Tzakri threatened that the issue of Kasselakis discount will reach the courts.
Disapprovals of executives before the start of the Political Secretariat
Earlier, before the start of the meeting of the Political Secretariat, the atmosphere was tense outside the offices of SYRIZA in Koumoundourou, as supporters of Stefanos Kasselakis had gathered and disapproved of party members who arrived.
Specifically, during the appearance of Olga Gerovasilis, people can be heard shouting: “You are not ashamed, number”.
Cheers were also heard during the entrance of Kostas Zachariadis and Alekos Flambouraris, with those gathered shouting: “You will leave. You dissolved SYRIZA”.
A few minutes after 20:00, Pavlos Polakis passed through Koumoundourou’s door.
According to information, shortly before 17:30 most members of the Political Secretariat were notified by text message to come to Koumoundourou and while the next Political Secretariat was scheduled for next Tuesday.
The extraordinary meeting of the body is reportedly being held to challenge the expulsion of Kasselakis, i.e. whether or not he is dismissed.
Kasselakis: “Don’t organize protest rallies – I’m here”
The previous president of SYRIZA, Stefanos Kasselakis, made an intervention on Thursday evening, in which he states that at this time “incredible provocations are taking place”, while asking the friends of SYRIZA not to organize protest rallies and to show patience.
“Turn your rage into creation. I’m here,” he says in his first post – a post after the impeachment motion against him.
The post of Stefanos Kasselakis:
“Because at the moment there are incredible provocations – from fake dialogues to fake invitations – (even my alleged supporter in a Trump hat was drafted!), I want to ask the friends of SYRIZA not to organize protest rallies.
And above all not to sabotage the visit of the Head of the K.O. of SYRIZA – PS, Nikos Pappas, at TEF. Against diversion, composure, patience and self-restraint are our strength.
Turn your anger into creation. I’m here.”
The phone calls to Rania Svigou that led to the emergency convening of the Political Secretariat
The information says that in the morning Manolis Kapnisakis called Rania Svigou on the phone, after consultation with Stefanos Kasselakis, and asked her the question: After the result of the Central Committee, now, based on the law, who is responsible? Because, as he explained to her, there are pending cases reflected in various areas, including financial pending ones. The secretary of SYRIZA, as the information says, allegedly gave confused answers, without actually “illuminating” the question.
Then, the same information states that Stefanos Kasselakis called Rania Svigou himself, asking who has the administrative and criminal responsibility for the party, clarifying that the matter is particularly serious. Mrs. Svigou reportedly replied that it is not you because you have been dismissed from the Central Committee. However, for more explanations, he referred him to Christos Mavrokephalidis, the person in charge of the party’s finances.
Kasselakis then called Mavrokephalidis, asking him essentially the same question. He, in turn, as the information says, allegedly replied that according to the law “you remain president until the extraordinary congress unless you sign a power of attorney”, with Kasselakis replying that he cannot sign a power of attorney from the moment who does not know the decisions made.
After all this, Rania Svigou decided on the extraordinary convergence of the Political Secretariat.
Kasselakis in Athens
Early in the morning, Stefanos Kasselakis boarded a water taxi in Spetses and left alone for Athens.
Mr. Kasselakis returned alone and many believe that it is only a matter of time before he makes his first public statement after four 24 hours of silence and reflection.
In fact, his colleagues, who left Koumoundourou with him and resigned from the press office, already have the communication mechanism ready to present the updates to the accredited editors of SYRIZA.
Information on how he will claim the presidency again
According to information, Stefanos Kaselakis met with MPs and executives of SYRIZA until a little while ago and the message he sent them is that he remains “present”, “within SYRIZA” and will re-claim the leadership of SYRIZA in the internal party elections.
According to the same sources, after 24 hours of intense processes and discussions with his staff and associates, he decided to fight within SYRIZA.
The issue of reinstatement of Stefanos Kasselakis to the presidency of SYRIZA arose, when the constitutionalist Xenophon Kontiadis raised the issue of the legality of the dismissal of Kasselakis from the offices of SYRIZA in Koumoundourou and the presidency of the party, arguing that the “yes” to a motion of censure against Kasselakis does not automatically imply his dismissal from office.
On the occasion of these positions, SYRIZA MPs and officials who supported Stefanos Kasselakis took positions, repeating the opinion of Mr. Kontiadis.
Elena Akrita and Theofilos Xanthopoulos commented on the issue, stating that Stefanos Kasselakis should return to his office in Koumoundourou.
Polakis and Pappas
All this at a time when Pavlos Polakis, the only one who has officially declared himself a candidate for president of SYRIZA, is preparing his first move by opening the succession race early on.
Tomorrow morning he makes his first appearance on a nationwide television station, opening the curtain on the election campaign.
The presence of Nikos Pappas at the TEF also plays an important role in speeding up the proceedings, where the questions are expected to be stormy about the internal parties of SYRIZA but also the attacks he is now openly receiving from the camp of Mr. Kasselakis for undermining him in the KE.
