Systembolaget stops digital ID: “Not safe”

Digital ID is no longer accepted at Systembolaget.

As of Friday, November 15, it is no longer possible to use a digital ID when shopping at Systembolaget.

The method is not considered secure enough, and the use of digital ID cards via bank ID in stores and at agents is now paused.

“In recent weeks, there have been reports of extremely well-made forgeries of digital ID cards, and we ourselves have had a few incidents in stores,” Systembolaget writes on its website.

Sales manager Mattias Särmalm says he understands if the measure can be seen as inconvenient for customers, but that it is necessary.

“We will resume the digital ID card from bank ID as an identification option as soon as we have the opportunity to do the check in a sufficiently secure way”.

Systembolaget introduced digital ID as identification in September last year.
