Systembolaget is a state-owned retail chain that sells alcoholic beverages across the country. They were founded in 1955 and have had a monopoly on the sale of strong drinks with an alcohol content above 3.5 percent.
To be allowed to buy alcohol at the system company, you must be 20 years old.

Systembolaget’s big change – you no longer have to do that
During Friday, Systembolaget announced that they are introducing a new major change.
As of today, November 15, they are stopping digital ID cards from Bank-id as identification in stores and agents.

Therefore, Systembolaget is stopping digital ID cards
The reason behind the decision is, according to Systembolaget, that the digital identification methods are not considered secure enough.
Systembolaget believes that counterfeits have been used in their stores, and therefore chooses to stop the digital ID cards.
– We understand that it can be difficult for customers who want to shop with digital ID cards from Bank-id with us and we regret that, but at the moment we see that it is necessary and we will resume digital ID cards from Bank-id as an identification possibility as soon as we have the opportunity to do the check in a sufficiently safe way, says Mattias Särmalm, sales manager in one press release.
