Artificial intelligence is a field that is constantly evolving. And thanks to her, there is a new thing in the world that sounds pretty crazy. A new artificial intelligence collar lets your dog or cat talk.

A collar that allows dogs and cats to talk

Shazam Band is a new collar for your pets that is powered by artificial intelligence. This collar has built-in speakers and sensors that allow your pet to talk to you.

After wearing the collar, you can talk to your dog or cat because the collar emits a human voice and answers your questions. However, the use of the collar is wider. Thanks to it, you can track the animal, which is useful if it wanders off. The collar will also send you a text message if the animal is in danger. GPS is integrated in the collar for this purpose.

How does Shazam Band work?

Personifi AI is behind the Shazam Band collar. Company CEO John McHale spoke with TechRadar about what motivated him to create such a collar. On the one hand, it is an age-old desire of humans to talk to animals, but it also has a practical purpose.

McHale said his dog had been bitten by a snake in the past and nearly died. Therefore, he started thinking about the possibilities of artificial intelligence and how AI could be used to prevent such situations.

The Shazam Band collar works for any pet that can be equipped with a collar. The integrated AI was trained on large datasets in a similar way to how ChatGPT is trained.

The Shazam Band has an array of sensors and listens to what you say to your dog. It then responds to your words, but at the same time interprets the dog’s kinematic behavior. This makes your dog’s reactions seem natural. For example, a dog will express its mood back to you. He can use sound to let you know that he is sad or that he wants to play.

Voices of comedy actors

How the collar works in practice is debatable. It is clear that neither the dog nor the cat is actually talking to you, it is rather a pleasant diversion of the time spent with your pet. This is also underlined by the fact that the voices that the animals make are voiced by comedians or well-known influencers. There are up to 25 different voices to choose from – both male and female.

Although it sounds bizarre, the Shazam Band collar has the potential to be successful. The world is full of owners who love their pets more than anything. However, we do not expect that the collar will reach us either.

Price and availability

The Shazam Band collar is available in several colors and in several variations. The cheapest variant Feline and X-Small will cost you 495 dollars, which is roughly 11,800 crowns. This collar is suitable for dogs and cats with narrower necks. The Ultra version, which is suitable for larger animals, also costs $495 (11,800 crowns), and the most expensive Ultra Plus version costs $595 (14,100 crowns). Pre-orders are already open and sales should begin in February 2025.
