Frederico Pinheiro, former deputy to former Infrastructure Minister João Galamba, was named a defendant on Tuesday and the target of house searches by the Judicial Police, a source familiar with the case told Lusa.

The news of the searches for Frederico Pinheiro, in a process of the Department of Investigation and Criminal Action of Lisbon, was announced by TVI/CNN, and confirmed by Lusa.

According to TVI/CNN, there are suspicions of illegitimate access to classified documents by Frederico Pinheiro, stating that the PJ’s investigations concluded that the former member of the PS government’s Ministry of Infrastructure made a copy of the TAP recovery plans and the location of the new airport, among others, before returning the computer to the State through SIS agents.

A source close to the process told Lusa that Frederico Pinheiro was named a defendant.

Contacted by Lusa, the former deputy in the office of Minister João Galamba simply stated: “I am a citizen who complies with the law, namely the secrecy of justice”.

In April 2023, Frederico Pinheiro was dismissed from his duties due to “behavior incompatible with the duties and responsibilities” inherent in the exercise of his functions.

Frederico Pinheiro is targeted in the exchange of information disclosed in the media about the controversy at TAP.
