While the meal exemption is determined as 170 TL per day in 2024, the daily meal fee calculated based on the revaluation rate (YDO) is expected to be 240 TL in 2025.
In his statement, tax expert Ozan Bingöl on the subject explained how the value of the exemptions given for daily meal fees has lost its power.
“IT HAS BEEN TAKEN AWAY FROM THE WORKERS”
Bingöl’s post is as follows:
“The meal exemption for 2024 was 170 TL. With the revaluation rate of 43.93%, this amount will be 240 TL next year. If this rate had been applied every penny since 2000, this amount should have been 359.42 TL next year. Over the years, the worker’s , the daily food cost of the worker’s payroll has been cut secretly, just like the income tax brackets, and our suggestion has been taken away, piece by piece. “In order to achieve a permanent and fair solution, the meal fee exception should be indexed to the minimum wage and applied at least half of the gross amount of the daily minimum wage.”
