At the concert in the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, the data usage of the “Swifties” on the O2 Telefónica network reached a new record.
It is well known that Taylor Swift’s smartphone-savvy fans particularly like to share selfies and videos from concerts. Accordingly, at the first of the seven performances on the US superstar’s “Eras Tour” in Europe yesterday in Gelsenkirchen, a new data record was set on the O2 Telefónica network: During the concert, fans in the Veltins Arena alone used around 4,000 gigabytes of mobile data.
Especially between 6 and 7 p.m., when the show began, the “Swifties” sent numerous pictures and videos online via TikTok, Instagram, WhatsApp and other apps. The fans of the rock stars AC/DC, who were guests in Gelsenkirchen on May 17 and 21, used less than half as much mobile data in the O2 network – around 1,750 gigabytes. Even the European Championship match between Italy and Spain on June 20 “only” used 2,600 GB in the arena.
