Lee Zeldin, defends fossil fuels and will manage the environmental agency
Trump announced Monday that he has nominated Zeldin, a former New York state congressman, as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Zeldin, 44, a strong ally of Trump, served in Congress between 2015 and 2023. In 2022, he lost the race for governor of New York to current Democrat Kathy Hochul.
Trump has promised to review US energy policy, with the aim of maximizing the country’s already high oil and gas production by rolling back regulations and accelerating permits.
Despite this long list, there are still some important positions to be filled: this is the case of the secretary of the treasury and commerce. The names should be known in the coming days.
Donald Trump will be inaugurated as the 47th president of the United States on January 20th.
