Tecno is consistently increasing its market share in Russia. The range of models is huge, the price range is small, and it is sometimes difficult to sort through the multitude of models. Before us is a model that is located at the very beginning of the Camon 30 line, standing one step higher than the Camon 30s Pro.
This device focuses on a balance of capabilities, an interesting design, and the presence of wireless charging. The maximum possible package will appeal to reasonable buyers, and the company’s promise to update the software for three years makes this device even more interesting. In this price segment, companies often ignore such “little things” and forget about updates instantly.
The target audience of such a smartphone can be children, youth, adults, anyone who is looking for a nice design, good performance of the model and the presence of a good main camera. With the caveat that we are seeing all this in the price segment of about 20 thousand rubles, which imposes a number of restrictions. For example, there is de facto one camera module here, you will use it constantly. But you wouldn’t expect anything else from such a model; we have before us a compromise that turned out to be extremely successful, and therefore sales of this device look very confident. In general, the entire Camon line impresses with its price/quality ratio, which no one can compete with in the segment up to 30 thousand rubles, and the model is more affordable.
For comparison, we can recall the Samsung Galaxy A16, which is just entering the market, the basic model has a 4/128 GB configuration, the screen only supports 90 Hz (also AMOLED), and the price starts from 20 thousand rubles. Immediately the characteristics are a cut above, as well as the design, convenience of the device and the delivery package. It’s easy to understand why buyers in Russia choose Tecno over budget devices from other companies. Let’s figure out what exactly this device offers us.
Design, dimensions, control elements
The device is available in three colors – black, green, beige (“Star Grey”, “Green Chameleon”, “Pearl Gold” (eco leather). We have a device with a back made of eco leather, beige color.
The body is made of plastic, which most closely resembles the feel of metal, the same chrome plating, but we must remember that in this price segment the use of materials such as metal is impossible. The design has a curved screen and back, the device fits perfectly in the hand.
The design of the back panel is made to look like a camera, the bezel is also made to look like metal, this design looks good. There is a red indicator, it works when charging or incoming call.
On the table, the phone lies flat on the camera, slightly raised. There are no complaints here. The kit includes a plastic case, it has built-in wireless charging, the case matches the color of the case, so you definitely don’t need to buy anything extra (there is also a protective glass for the screen).
Phone dimensions – 164.6 x 74.6 x 7.8 mm, weight – 180 grams. Typical dimensions for such models, but due to the bevels of the case, the device is perceived as more elegant. Some people don’t like the bevels, but on the contrary, I don’t like them; they don’t interfere with working with the phone, but give it additional charm.

The technical characteristics of the screen are as follows: 6.78 inches, 1080×2436 pixels (20:9), AMOLED, 393 ppi, automatic brightness adjustment, AlwaysOn Display, refresh rate 120 Hz, brightness up to 800 nits (peak 1300 nits).
The screen is easy to read in the sun, nothing to complain about. In the settings, for better screen readability, you need to turn on the high brightness mode.
It’s nice that in the settings you can force the screen refresh rate to 60/120 Hz or leave the automatic adjustment.
You can also change the frequency of touch processing plus animation speed.
The color temperature is adjustable to suit your needs, but the standard settings are quite good, and there is no desire to change them. The blue filter can work according to a schedule.
The AlwaysOn Display mode is nice, there are various screensavers, the ability to select separate icons for key events (for example, the number of steps taken or something else). Unfortunately, you won’t be able to enable AoD for permanent operation; it can be activated by touching the screen or when you pick up the device.
A mode similar to Dynamic Island on the iPhone is implemented around the camera; different icons and animations appear here. For example, when you unlock with your face (it works quickly and efficiently), you see an icon with a face. When charging you see the percentage.
Chipset, performance, memory
The model has 8/256 GB of memory, which is an excellent offer for its class. Memory speed is not the highest, but typical for this price segment.
The chipset used is Mediatek Helio G100 (6 nm), Mali-G57 MC2, this version only supports 4G networks, but for Russia there is currently no need for 5G.
Under load, the device works well, performance drops only in one case – if the device has less than 15% charge, then throttling is activated.
In normal tasks, the device is quite responsive and does not slow down, so you will get a typical solution for its segment.

The operating time is about two days with 3-4 hours of screen time, which is excellent for such a device (120 Hz, adaptive backlight about 70% by default, several GB of data over the cellular network). The operating time for this model is excellent, even with a heavier load you are guaranteed to get a full day of work.
Wireless charging up to 20 W, everything is pretty typical here. Rather, you need to use such charging from time to time, for example, in a car or somewhere in public places where they are built into surfaces and there is no regular cable and outlet. Reverse charging is supported, which allows you to recharge headphones, watches, and other small devices (up to 4.5 W).
Communication capabilities
NFC is available, everything works well (Google Pay support, the service does not work in Russia). Bluetooth operation does not raise any questions; there is support for the following codecs – SBC, AAC, LDAC.
Navigation using GPS does not raise any questions, everything works quickly and clearly.
Cameras
The front camera is quite advanced, you get good quality pictures.
The main camera interface is simple and intuitive.
The main module is 50 megapixels, the quality of shooting on the main module is excellent for this class of devices. Digital zoom x2, but the set of cameras does not have a wide-angle module, for some this may be a minus.

Software
The device is built on Android 14, as well as the HiOS 14 shell inside. The software is pleasant, I am pleased with three years of updates and the fact that security patches arrive monthly, as well as improvements to the firmware and user functions.

The quality of communication is at a good level, there are no complaints. The ringer volume is high, it is clear, the vibration alert is average. The stereo speakers provide high-quality sound, and watching videos on the device is good.
As I said above, the price/quality ratio of this device is excellent, as is the performance in its segment. I remember a striking example of a competitor in the Galaxy A16, the model loses on all fronts.
And here we come to the conclusion that the device from Tecno is interesting for the money, it offers a good camera in its class, a large and bright screen, a nice design and the list goes on. Yes, this model is inferior to the older devices in the Camon 30 line; they have more cameras and additional features. But the beauty of the line is that you can choose different devices and choose them for yourself at a price level that suits you.
For those who are looking for a budget smartphone in the price segment of 20-25 thousand rubles, this model is one hundred percent suitable. Please note that such a device will easily last 4-5 years, but if you want not to overpay and replace it in two or three years, then it is also interesting. Over these two or three years, the models will change and will probably gain new capabilities.
The device turned out to be excellent, its price in Russia is 22,990 rubles outside of sales, the latter also happen, and then the price is 1.5-2 thousand rubles lower. An excellent offer for your money.
