Deutsche Telekom has joined the Federal Association for Fiber Optic Connections (Buglas), the association and the company announced at Telekom’s Fiber Optic Partner Day in Bonn.

Telekom and Buglas companies share the goal of further improving the framework conditions for fiber optic expansion and connecting Germany with the most modern FTTH technology (Fiber to the Home).

Customers in the relevant expansion areas will benefit from this, Buglas said in a statement. Within the legal limits, cooperations not only enable the pure fiber optic connection but also ensure the quality of speed, latency and stability. Cooperations are based on mutual trust and mutual benefit for the benefit of customers.

In all areas developed jointly with Buglas companies, competition takes place on the respective lines according to the open access principle. This means that network partners such as O2, Vodafone, 1&1 or regional providers can use these lines without discrimination.

“Cooperation models between network builders and operators are one of the most important trends in our industry. Telekom is very active here and is already working with regional companies and municipal utilities in over forty cooperations. We are pleased that they are now a member of Buglas, because all parties benefit from cooperation,” explains Buglas President Theo Weirich.

With Telekom joining Buglas, the companies that are actually investing in FTTH in Germany in the long term are now working together even more closely.
