Double data volume for the same price
Telekom has been stingy with data volumes so far. Now the Bonn-based company is significantly increasing its MagentaMobil tariffs. What customers can expect from August 1st.
News
Deutsche Telekom is introducing new mobile phone tariffs on August 1, 2024 and is increasing the existing tariffs from S to XL with significantly more data volume without increasing prices.
Double data volume at no extra charge
The “MagentaMobil Basic” tariff is being launched with a new name. It was previously called Magenta XS and is aimed at beginners. As before, only 5 GB of inclusive volume is included, but the price has been reduced by 10 euros to 24.95 euros per month.
With the MagentaMobil S, M and L tariffs, however, the data volume doubles without the prices increasing.
The MagentaMobil XL tariff, which includes an unlimited data flat rate, costs 84.95 euros per month as before. New: The tariff includes 5 GB of data per month for internet use in country groups 2 and 3 such as Turkey, the USA, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Canada or Tunisia.
In addition, all tariff variants include a flat rate for calls and SMS to all German networks as well as 5G access for the outstanding Telekom network.
The new tariffs at a glance
- MagentaMobil Basic: 5 GB data volume for 24.95 euros/month.
- MagentaMobil S: 20 GB for 39.95 euros/month.
- MagentaMobil M: 40 GB for 49.95 euros/month.
- MagentaMobil L: 80 GB for 59.95 euros/month.
- MagentaMobil XL: unlimited data volume for 84.95 euros/month, plus 5 GB abroad (country groups 2 and 3).
Contract details and availability
- All tariffs can be booked with a term of 24 months or in the Flex variant with no minimum term. Existing customers who have had a Magenta Mobil contract since 2022 can switch to the new tariffs from August.
- Current devices can be added to the 24-month contracts.
- The new mobile phone tariffs will be available from August 1, 2024 in customer service, online at telekom.de, in the Telekom Shop and in specialist retailers.
PlusCards can be booked from the entry-level tariff
The innovative PlusCard offer remains in place: Depending on the PlusCard variant, families, friends and acquaintances can order up to 10 additional cards per contract and benefit from the lower monthly price.
The prices of the additional cards are transparent: the first PlusCard costs 19.95 euros, and each additional card costs 9.95 euros. For minors aged between six and 17, the Kids & Teens PlusCard is always available for 9.95 euros per month.
For tablets and laptops there is the PlusCard Data, also for 9.95 euros per month. The advantage: all additional cards automatically have as much data volume available as the main card. This makes Telekom unique on the market.
Happy Hour for MagentaEins customers
Anyone who books a landline in addition to a mobile phone service with Telekom will be rewarded extra. The MagentaEins convergence offer includes one hour of unlimited data volume per day for customers of the MagentaMobil Basic to M tariffs in conjunction with a MagentaZuhause or fiber optic tariff.
Magenta TV customers who have booked Telekom’s IPTV and streaming service in addition to their landline benefit from two one-hour unlimited surfing packages per day. This also applies to the additional cards booked in addition to the main contract. Everyone can decide individually when the “Mobile Happy Hour” is used. To do this, simply start it in the MeinMagenta app. Customers with a MagentaMobil-L contract continue to benefit from unlimited data volume, including the PlusCards they have booked.
Private customer boss Wolfgang Metze wants to set new standards with the revised tariff portfolio: “Data volume and affordable family tariffs are at the top of our customers’ wish list. That’s why we have doubled the data volume in many tariffs and thanks to our PlusCards, all family members and friends automatically benefit from this increase. Our customers get a top price-performance ratio here,” says private customer boss Wolfgang Metze. “With the Mobile Happy Hour, we are even going one step further for our convergence customers. With up to two hours of unlimited data volume per day, we are setting new standards in the German market.”
Calls outside the EU cheaper
Just in time for the holiday season, the Magenta Group is also reducing the prices for telephone calls abroad: calls outside the EU cost a uniform 29 cents per minute, both for incoming and outgoing calls in many countries around the world. These prices apply to main cards as well as to all new PlusCards.
Within the EU as well as in Switzerland, Great Britain, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein, Telekom customers can use their inclusive services just like at home, without additional roaming costs.
