What to do when a parent needs a little help, while they recover or get better? There is a temporary home help system, accessible under certain conditions.

Simple and quick help to set up

This temporary home help is actually reserved for Agirc-Arrco retirees, receiving a supplementary pension. It aims to help people aged over 75 to take on their daily tasks when they face temporary difficulties: occasional absence of a loved one, of the usual carer, temporary illness, etc. Short-term, ten hours spread over a maximum of six weeks, it also has the advantage of being able to be set up very quickly.

This is good news for those concerned and for their families, especially since the service is completely free for the beneficiary. Its financing is in fact covered 100% by Agirc-Arrco, whether it involves preparing meals, cleaning or shopping, or simply helping an elderly person get dressed.

A simple phone call

To access it, you simply need to be over 75 years old and receive an Agirc-Arrco supplementary pension. However, you must not be a beneficiary of the personalized autonomy allowance (APA). Otherwise, you simply need to: “being temporarily unable to perform certain daily tasks oneself, for example, in the event of illness, temporary disability or the absence of a relative whose assistance is essential to life at home.”

How do I activate this temporary home help? The process is as simple as it is quick: just call 0 971 090 971. At the end of the line, a dedicated advisor will check whether the situation you are explaining falls within the scope of the cases supported. If this is the case, he will directly set up the requested home help service. Then, within 48 hours, a professional from an organization approved by Agirc-Arrco will visit the elderly person’s homedepending on their current needs.

Aid renewable within the year

Depending on the situation, is it possible to benefit from this temporary home help system several times during the same calendar year? In principle, yes, even if, for each request, the duration will be the same: ten hours maximum spread over a period of six weeks.

In the event of a need for chronic assistance or a more lasting or worsening health problem, this system will no longer be appropriate. The elderly person and their loved ones will then have to contact either the CARSAT (pension and occupational health insurance fund) for a regular assistance request, or the departmental council in order to submit an APA request.
