Temporary respite for Google Play Store

The app store does not have to admit other app stores into its assortment.

After an appeal, Google does not have to open up its app store Play Store, at least not yet. This is reported by the publication The Verge. It was a couple of weeks ago that Google was convicted in the US for exploiting a monopoly situation, and thus, among other things, would be forced to open the store for distribution by competing app stores.

Google has now appealed the ruling, and while waiting for it to be taken up in a higher instance, Google can continue as before – with one exception: from November 1, 2024, it will no longer be allowed to prevent other app stores from being pre-installed on Android devices .
