Temu’s threat from Amazon is fended off by creating a new discount store

Despite Amazon’s long-standing dominance of the e-commerce space, the continued rise of online stores Temu, Shein and other related websiteshas caused a bit of concern. This prompted Amazon to consider creating a new online marketplace to fend off growing competition. The retail giant has now launched this effort in beta form and there is a corresponding mobile app.

The information coming to light say that Amazon has launched its discount e-commerce store, which it named “Haul”. It can currently be found through the company’s mobile app, however, the beta version is not widely available as only certain customers in the US have access.

The new Haul will sell items at extremely low prices, like $1 eyelash curlers, $14 pajama sets and $3 bags. Similar to Temu and Shein, the Haul page is able to keep these prices so low by allowing individual packages to be shipped directly from China to the US via air freight. Consequently, shipping times are much slower and return policies are much stricter than on the official Amazon store. Plus, Haul has free shipping on orders over $25 or a $3.99 fee on orders under $25.
