Earlier this year, Microsoft announced its decision to discontinue the Windows Subsystem for Android, which allowed Android apps to run within Windows 11. On the other hand, in May, Microsoft and Tencent announced a partnership to bring Android apps to Windows 11 computers in China. The result of this partnership is now available for Windows Insiders in China on air.
Chinese Windows Insiders can now visit the Microsoft Store and explore Android games made available by Tencent. Popular games such as PUBG Mobile, Honor of Kings, REDnote and Kuaishou are available for download on Microsoft Store. This integration appears similar to the previous Amazon Appstore integration found in the Microsoft Store.
The Tencent MyApp icon becomes part of the left navigation bar of the Microsoft Store. Users will be able to click on this to explore all the games they can play on their Windows 11 computers.
As part of this integration, Tencent plans to bring more than 1,500 mobile apps and games to the Microsoft Store for Windows 11 users in China.
