Tencent presents its portable console, Sunday Dragon 3D One

Tencent Games, the video game subsidiary of the Chinese giant Tencent, has presented Sunday Dragon 3D One. Developed in partnership with Intel, it is the prototype of a giant-sized portable console with a series of features that make it very different from everything what’s on the market.

Sunday Dragon 3D One marks distance in size for its 11 inch diagonal screen. Giant compared to all other handheld gaming machines (including the Steam Deck and Nintendo Switch) that use panels between 7 and 8 inches. The resolution is also higher than most that usually stay at FHD. Here it scales to an interesting QHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

One of the novelties In the visual aspect it is its ability to offer 3D functions without glasses. To do this, it uses eye tracking cameras, with the same technology used in televisions, laptops or even devices such as tablets such as Nubia Pad 3D II.

Some PC games are optimized to take advantage of this 3D technology, including Path of Exile, Blade & Soul or Arena Breakout: Infinite. But we don’t know if the experience will be as impressive in games that haven’t been optimized. It must be said that three-dimensional vision without the need for additional accessories such as glasses has been widely promised, but little achieved. And really the performance of Sunday Dragon 3D One is unknown.

Tencent is betting on Intel as the main engine and in fact, the chip giant is collaborating in the development of the machine. A CPU is announced Intel Core Ultra 7 258Va ‘Lunar Lake’ development with 4 Lion Cove cores and 4 Skymont cores, which can reach a working frequency of up to 4.8 GHz and includes an Intel Arc Graphics 140V graphics chip with 8 Xe2 cores.

Other components of the device are 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory, an SSD with 1 TB of storage capacity and a battery with 100 W charging. We hope it has good capacity because it will be very necessary.

Say that the sides, where the controls are located, They can be removed as is the case with the Nintendo Switch. It can also be used as a tablet and additionally connect a keyboard accessory. At the moment the development is little more than a prototype. No price or availability has been provided for a unique machine that we hope will end up reaching the market.
