Tencent shamelessly imitates Dutch hit game Horizon: Zero Dawn

Game studio Polaris Quest, part of tech giant Tencent, has announced the game Light of Motiram. This open world game is very similar to Dutch pride Horizon: Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West.

Like the games from Amsterdam-based Guerrilla Games, Light of Motiram takes you into an open world where people with primitive clothing and weapons compete against enormous robots that are reminiscent of extinct animals.

Not only is the concept similar to Horizon, but the style of the robots, the use of color and the lens flares, among other things, seem to have been copied. The character prominently featured in the artwork even has the same hair color as the main character from the Horizon games. The font of the logo also looks similar.

In terms of gameplay, Light of Motiram seems to differ from the Horizon games. Guerrilla’s games are more action adventures with a focus on story, while Light of Motiram is a survival game where you have to collect materials and build a base. You can also play with others and train robot animals.

Palworld

The new game is reminiscent of the popular Palworld. This game from China also clearly copies elements of other popular games, such as the design of Pokémon. Nintendo has sued the makers because game mechanics from the Pokémon games were also allegedly copied.
