After leaving the ministry, the firefighters gathered outside the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and threw objects at the police forces, as a result of which the two traffic streams on Kifisias Avenue were closed, while the Police proceeded with diversions for better traffic management .
At this time firefighters remain outside the Ministry.
In a statement, the Hellenic Police Headquarters regarding today’s gathering states:
“Regarding today’s gathering of seasonal firefighters outside the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, the Hellenic Police Headquarters announces the following:
After completion of a meeting of their delegation with representatives of the Ministry, in the evening hours, people remained inside the building of the Ministry, while they were given a deadline to leave, after communication with the competent Prosecutor.
The individuals did not leave the area, while in their presence they caused damage and attacked by throwing objects at the police forces, as a result of which a police officer was injured and taken to a hospital for first aid.
In addition, after their removal from the Ministry premises, the individuals remain outside, as a result of which public transport and the movement of citizens are obstructed.”
