“Termites: The Journey”: The story of the legendary band in a book

Pavlos Kikrilis describes the unique path of his life with his pen in his first book “Termites: The Journey” published by Lebee Publications.

The reader is transported to the 80’s, the era that belongs to the founders of the band Termites. Named after their initials, Pavlos (Paul), Lavrentis (Lary) and Dimitris Vasalakis (Jimmy) form the PLJ Band and with the addition of Antonis Mitzelou and Tolis Skamatzouras, they introduce themselves to their audience for the first time, with a foreign verse . While experiencing failure with this band, they then taste success with the name Termites and Greek lyrics while a new member has been added to the band, Filippos Spyropoulos.

The author

Pavlos Kikrilis was born in Athens in 1957 and lived in the historic Plaka. He finished the then sixth grade high school and at the same time studied music at the Athens Conservatory.

In 1972, in their teenage years, together with Lavrentis Mahairitsa, they created their first group called PL Band, which later with the addition of other well-known musicians was renamed PLJ Band and later “Termites”.

He was the composer of many of the band’s songs and after its breakup he wrote songs for several singers. Some of them are “I feel a lot” performed by Manolis Lidakis, “Look what happened” performed by Doukissa and “Fantazoami” with Nikos Nomikos.

It was the time when he decided that musically he had already fulfilled his youthful dream through the Termites and so he decided to engage in various professions. Since 2000, he has been living in Bulgaria and working in the catering industry, while at the same time he released a CD with songs in jazz style, which the country’s state channel considers a very interesting project.

In Philippopolis from 2010 to 2014, he forms two groups with Greek students: The “music registries” and “Meteorous” and they appear in different clubs. At the same time, he begins to write the path of his life, the one that concerns his relationship with music and the path of the band Termites…
