Tesla and Rivian settlement: the lawsuit over trade secrets seems to be resolved –

The final settlement in the lawsuit between Tesla and Rivian may be reached in December.

Tesla and Rivian may be close to settling a lawsuit Tesla filed in 2020 alleging Rivian recruited former employees and misappropriated trade secrets. According to the latest news, Tesla has indicated to a California judge that the parties have reached a “conditional” settlement and are expected to ask to withdraw the lawsuit by December 24.

Tesla argued during the lawsuit that Rivian followed a “disturbing pattern” of luring Tesla employees and encouraging them to steal confidential information. In contrast, according to Rivian, the purpose of the lawsuit was to slow down the company’s growth and deter Tesla employees from potentially switching.

While Tesla did not respond to questions about the case, a Rivian spokesperson confirmed that they do not comment on pending litigation. The case was supposed to go to court in March, but the possibility of a settlement could ease the tension between the parties. The lawsuit was one of a series of legal battles that have seen the electric car industry increasingly focus on protecting trade secrets and complying with employee mobility rules.
