Tesla has sold more cars worldwide than Audi

In 2024, it produced 1,773,443 cars and sold 1,789,226 worldwide in Tesla. This represents a slight decrease when compared to the 2023 numbers. Production then stopped at 1,845,985 units, and sales at 1,808,581 units – this represents a decrease of 3.9 and 1.1 percent, respectively. The problem is that the company increased its production by 35 percent and its sales by 38 percent between 2022 and 2023, and the decline is shocking.

Along with that, Elon Musk and his people have something to be happy about, as for the first time they sold more cars than that Audi: the German car manufacturer’s turnover of 1,671,218 units is 11.8 percent lower than in 2023 (1,895,240 units).

Compared to the fact that the European press was loud about the collapse of the Audi factory in Brussels and the news about the discontinuation of the Q8 e-tron, it is thanks to the brand’s electric car sales that the loss was not even greater. The BEV models accounted for nearly 10% of the company’s total turnover with their sales of 164,000 units, the drop here was “only” around 8 percent.

By the way, Tesla’s turnover is quite uneven: last year, the Model Y / Model 3 pair, thoroughly revised for the new year, accounted for 95.2 percent of sales (in 2023: 96.2%). At Audi, the Q5 with a new model generation for 2025 was the most popular type (298,000 units, 17.8%), the most popular electric Audi was the Q4 e-tron with 108,000 units sold (65.8% share of BEV sales) .
