Tesla is already sending this bright yellow Robotaxi onto the road

With less than a month to go until the unveiling of the Tesla Robotaxi, the company is already turning heads for its self-driving taxi. Tesla sent a Robotaxi onto the road in a very flashy package.

It concerns a canary yellow Robotaxi that was spotted on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles. The photo first appeared on Reddit, but was deleted again. Of course, it was saved before that and on X shared. You see a photo of the bright yellow vehicle, which is surprisingly followed by a car that looks like a Tesla Model 3.

It seems like a move to draw attention to the self-driving car a month before the official Robotaxi unveiling on October 10. The presentation will also take place on the Warner Bros. site.

It is the first time that a Tesla Robotaxi has been spotted in the wild. A concept design of the vehicle was leaked earlier, but a photo of a driving Robotaxi on the street has not yet been made. In any case, the two seem to match, as can be seen from the futuristic look that both images show.

Distorted image

Nevertheless, it remains a guess what the car actually looks like: this example is not only provided with a bright yellow sticker job: there also seem to have been adjustments to the exterior to create a distorted image of the car. Only on October 10th you will see what the car actually looks like. The photo was taken from a great distance, so you do not see anything of the inside. And that is precisely where the necessary questions still exist.

Steering wheel or not?

In particular, the steering wheel and pedals of the self-driving car, or rather the lack thereof, are big question marks. For years, the intention was not to place a steering wheel and pedals in the taxi, but it is questionable whether Tesla still thinks that way. In order to get the self-driving taxi on the road, regulators still have to give the green light. That process takes much longer if the Robotaxi does not have a way to manually take over the steering, which is of course the case without a steering wheel and pedals. Tesla boss Elon Musk has so far refused to say anything about it.
