In Hungary and in many other countries of the world – in fact, in the whole world – the Tesla Y is the electric car sold in the largest number, so presumably many people were eagerly waiting for the details of the 2025 model update.
The company did not mince the modifications, they also cover aesthetics, practical details and technical content. Let’s start with the latter, since it is the most important, even if it is not visible.
From now on, the entire rear part of the floor is formed as a single element – previously it was assembled from seventy elements, as is done by almost all other car manufacturers in the automotive industry. The gigacasting process not only makes production faster, but also cheaper and more accurate.
During everyday use, the new construction results in less vibration and more favorable aerodynamic characteristics (i.e. less air resistance and lower wind noise), which is also reflected in an increase in range.
Tesla predicts a 3% increase for the all-wheel-drive, long-range version, which doesn’t sound like much, but since we started with 533 kilometers, that’s an improvement of 16 kilometers and a new value of 549 kilometers.
Of course, even a Tesla cannot be sold to everyone with mere technical improvements, so the designers also focused on the visuals. The bumpers have also been modified at both ends.
Allegedly, the chassis and the factory-fitted tires have also changed, but it is not clear what causes the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds instead of 4.8.
An 8-inch touch screen appeared in the back of the passenger compartment, which is used to access multimedia content and play video games. The primary infotainment monitor is 15.4 inches.
What hasn’t changed is the five-person passenger compartment, although a seven-seat version is said to be in the works.
There is only one problem with the above: the renewed Tesla Model Y is currently only available in Asia and Oceania, which is why there are Chinese inscriptions on the photos taken from the screens. The technical data of the European versions, which will obviously arrive later, are not yet known.
