Test Maserati GranCabrio Folgore – you’ll never guess what the color in the photos will cost

Anyone looking for an electric convertible will probably not visit Maserati. But that’s like walking past Hema when you’re in the mood for smoked sausage, because the Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is as electric as anything!

The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore has not one, not two, but three electric motors on board. They get their energy from an 83 kWh battery pack. The total power is 761 hp and the maximum torque is a sky-high 1350 Nm.

That explains the name Folgore, which in Italian does not mean whole wheat but lightning. It indeed goes like lightning: from a standstill you reach 100 in just 2.8 seconds and the top speed is 290 km/h.

The Maserati GranCabrio Folgore is 440 kilos heavier than the Trofeo with 550 hp V6, but you don’t notice that. Because the battery pack is placed in a T-shape in the floor of the car, the center of gravity remains low. This makes the electric Maserati feel surprisingly agile, despite its considerable length of almost five meters.

A joy to drive

Whether we are devouring winding back roads with the roof open, making long highway stretches at high speed or sitting behind the wheel eating away at busy city traffic; the GranCabrio Folgore is easy to operate and a pleasure to drive, because it is powerful, but at the same time very comfortable.

Even though the GranCabrio Folgore is just as electric as an Illy espresso machine, in sports mode we still hear an engine sound that is somewhat reminiscent of the V8 from the Maserati Quattroporte. And in the Corsa driving mode we even start to doubt whether we did not take the GranCabrio Trofeo at the start of the test drive.

A lot of money, but…

An advantage of electric driving is that the Dutch government rewards you with financial benefits. Although they are becoming increasingly scarce. The GranCabrio without CO2 emissions is available from 208,250 euros. A lot of money, but for the Trofeo you have to bring no less than 292,166 euros.

Anyone who, like the late fashion designer Frank Govers, loves exuberant colors, needs to know something. For a touch from the exclusive Fuoriserie color palette, Maserati is asking 32,670 euros without batting an eyelid! The color powder nude
texturized
that you see in the photos, for example. But you can also put together a shade yourself, for example the color of the cup of your favorite espresso flavor.

Maserati GranCabrio Folgore tests concluded

Anyone who wants to drive an open-top electric sports car has little choice at the moment. But don’t worry, the Maserati GranCabrio may be one of the few options, but it drives great and as a 4-seater it is surprisingly useful for everyday use. In addition, it is something different than a Porsche 911 Cabriolet.
