The largest methanizer in France is now located in Cérilly (Côte-d’Or). The project, inaugurated at the end of September, will bring 230 GWh to the network, enough to heat 20% of Dijon residents…
It all started with a weevil attack. “In 2018, this agronomic problem affected 80% of our rapeseed areas», Rewinds Christophe Richardot, the director of Dijon Céréales. To perpetuate farms in this region with “low agricultural potential”, the manager sought a solution: the giant methanizer. “CThis scale allows us to bring technologies that we cannot deploy on small models underlines Pascal Chanderot, director of Nature Energy France.
The investment of 100 million euros was carried equally by the cooperative bringing together 150 farmers and the energy company. The latter will supply megawatt hours to the network for a price of around 105 to 110 euros. The digestate will return to farmers’ fields, thus limiting the use of synthetic fertilization: the carbon footprint of farms should drop by 10%.
