Porsche expands the Taycan line with new models that stand out in performance and efficiency, offering a more versatile and powerful range of options by 2025.
Porsche has launched three new models for the second generation of the Taycan, its series of high-performance electric cars.
With a total of 13 versions, the Taycan now covers a wide variety of configurations, including three body types and all-wheel and rear-wheel drive options.
The improvements in power, autonomy and charging speed consolidate the Taycan as a reference option in the luxury electric vehicle market.
The Expansion of the Taycan Series
The launch of the three new Taycan models marks a milestone in Porsche’s range of electric cars, offering more personalized options to cover a greater variety of mobility needs.
“With this broad range of Taycans, we meet a wide range of customer wants and needs,” said Kevin Giek, vice president of Taycan model line. “Even the first generation of the Taycan GTS was already a benchmark for the range, and the new edition is no exception.”
The new Taycan models include improvements in design, technology and equipment, which provide greater power and efficiency.
All versions now feature an advanced powertrain, with a new rear-axle motor that adds up to 107 hp over its predecessor.
The upgrades allow these models better thermal management and faster charging at 800-volt charging stations, reaching up to 320 kW in optimal conditions.
New GTS Variants: Improved Sports Performance
The Taycan GTS range has been expanded with two versions: the Taycan GTS sports sedan and the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo. With a design focused on sportiness, these variants offer up to 690 hp of power when Launch Control is activated, 100 hp more than its predecessor.
In addition, the push-to-pass function of the Sport Chrono package, which provides an additional boost of 93 hp for 10 seconds, provides a more dynamic character at low speeds.
Acceleration of these models has also improved: both reach 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than their predecessors, and complete a quarter mile in 11.1 seconds.
These figures position the Taycan GTS as a solid competitor in the high-performance electric car segment.
The Taycan GTS includes distinctive black and anthracite gray design details on the exterior, such as the mirrors and the 20-inch Aero Design or 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels.
The interior, inspired by the Turbo GT model, includes high-quality materials such as Race-Tex leather and a multifunction sports steering wheel.
Taycan 4: Combination of Efficiency and All-Wheel Traction
He Taycan 4 is another of the new additions and is designed for those looking for the efficiency of a standard Taycan along with all-wheel drive.
This model, available as a sedan, is equipped with two electric motors on the front and rear axle, providing greater stability and traction. With 402 hp and the option to increase to 429 hp with the Performance Plus battery, the Taycan 4 accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
To optimize efficiency, the front motor is disengaged when not necessary, saving energy and reducing friction. This motor automatically reengages in milliseconds when additional traction is required or in regenerative braking situations.
Improved Technology and Equipment
The new 2025 Taycan models incorporate a more extensive list of standard equipment, including the next-generation Porsche Driver Experience.
The models now offer increased recovery power of up to 400 kW, which maximizes the energy recovered during braking and contributes to greater range.
Among the standard equipment, the active air suspension system with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) stands out in the GTS models.
This allows for greater adaptability to road conditions, ensuring a driving experience optimized for both daily use and sports performance.
Design and High Quality Materials in the Interior
Quality and design are crucial aspects inside these models. The Taycan GTS, for example, offers high-end details such as adaptive sports seats with 18-way power adjustment, a BOSE surround sound system as standard, and black leather and Race-Tex finishes.
Additionally, a Neo Slate Gray interior option is available for those looking for a distinctive design touch.
The Taycan 4 also features a comfortable, high-quality interior, including eight-way electrically adjustable seats and a 10-speaker sound system as standard.
Dark silver accents and partial leather combination in Slate Gray or Black/Stone Beige complete the vehicle’s luxurious atmosphere.
Pricing and Availability
The Taycan 4 has a starting price of $103,300, while the Taycan GTS sedan starts at $147,900 and the Taycan GTS Sport Turismo at $149,800. These prices do not include taxes, registration or shipping fees.
Customers can now place orders for these new versions, which will be available in dealerships towards the end of the first quarter of 2025. In addition, Porsche has added new exterior colors, including Neo Slate Gray and Pale Blue Metallic, which add to the an already wide palette of options.
