This is a new edition of last year’s successful event, which laid a solid foundation for a broader, more concrete and deeper discussion on key topics in the field of energy and climate change in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and the world. The first edition was followed by concrete solutions and guidelines for the improvement of climate and energy policies, and this was the main motive for reorganizing the event.

SECW is held under the high patronage of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, and with the support of numerous international and domestic institutions, organizations and companies. Partner countries are the Kingdom of Norway and the Kingdom of Great Britain.

This year, SECW continues with a dynamic approach, strongly focusing on the implementation of international climate obligations in BiH and the adaptation of domestic laws in accordance with these requirements. Significant steps forward in the direction of the energy transition are expected, with an emphasis on the implementation of the plans that were presented the previous year.

Mirsad Jašarspahić, president of the FBiH Chamber of Commerce, which, along with nLogic and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is the nominal organizer of SECW, says that this year an even bigger turnout is expected compared to the first edition, with already announced numerous participants from different sectors.

“SECW has positioned itself as an unmissable event for everyone who is dedicated to the energy and climate future of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the region and Europe. This is a unique opportunity for key actors, decision-makers and project leaders to start an important dialogue about the energy future and European integration in one place”, Jašarspahić said.

SECW gathers a wide range of companies, institutions and individuals from the region, the EU and the wider European belt. This year, the central program includes 19 panels, 13 side events and numerous presentations, as well as additional meetings and B2B exchanges, which represent an excellent opportunity for networking and business cooperation.

Event partner GIZ will support the organization of two panels during SECW. Announcing the panel Community action for energy transition in BiH, development of prosumers and energy communities, scheduled for Tuesday, September 24, Minela Isaković from GIZ emphasized: “On behalf of the German government, GIZ is successfully implementing activities that lead to energy transition at the local level . Municipalities and cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina are ready to actively participate in the implementation of innovative civic initiatives, such as energy communities.

The event will be attended by numerous international actors and experts, around 200 hundred of them, representatives of governments, industry, civil society and the academic community.

Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI) will participate in two panels and host a side event during SECW 2024.

Saša Solujić, head of the “BiH SuTra” program, said that the panels will offer significant insights into strengthening joint efforts to solve the climate crisis and encourage a greener future.

“Accompaniment event of the program”Sustainable transition of BiH (BiH SuTra)” will be held on September 24, starting at 9:00 a.m., and within the framework of the event, in a relaxed atmosphere, the achieved results will be presented and the key challenges will be discussed.
