Samsung recently unveiled two brand new smartwatches during Unpacked. Which one is right for you? Here are the three biggest differences between the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy Watch7 vs Galaxy Watch Ultra
Samsung presented new smartwatches on July 10 during Unpacked 2024. Against everyone’s expectations, there was no Galaxy Watch7 Classic or Pro, but a completely new smartwatch.
The Galaxy Watch7 is the smartwatch as we know it from Samsung and the Galaxy Watch Ultra is the brand’s most comprehensive creation to date. But which one suits you best? We list the biggest differences (and similarities) for you.
1. Galaxy Watch Ultra perfect for outdoor sports
Do you use the Galaxy Watch to track your sports every now and then or as an extension of your smartphone in everyday life? Then choose the Galaxy Watch7: it is extensive enough. You have more than 100 sports to choose from, your health and sleep are tracked, it responds easily to your messages and much more.
If you’re into extreme sports like diving or climbing, the advanced Galaxy Watch Ultra is the place to be. While the Galaxy Watch7 can easily handle the shower or rain, the more advanced version goes a lot further. It’s waterproof, so you can simply take it with you when you go diving. It then simply records all your activity under water.
Furthermore, the brightness of the amoled screen can reach up to 3000 nits. This means that even the brightest sunlight is no match for the display and you can always read the information clearly.
It is also handy that it is equipped with 4G support as standard. This way you are always reachable and not dependent on your phone. Still no reception and are you in trouble? Then use the Emergency Siren function.
2. Design and size
Then the looks also quite different. The Galaxy Watch7 has the characteristic appearance that Samsung has been holding on to for years with a round screen. For the Galaxy Watch Ultra, the brand has taken a different approach.
The round screen is in a square casing. Incidentally, that casing is made of titanium instead of aluminum. Titanium is a stronger material and can withstand a knock better. On the side of the Galaxy Watch Ultra, there is an extra button. You can set what it does exactly.
If you opt for the Galaxy Watch7, you can choose from two sizes: 40 or 44 millimeters. The watch of the Ultra model is a lot bigger, because it is only available with a 47 millimeter case. That will not look equally nice on everyone. If you have a thin wrist, the Galaxy Watch7 is probably a better choice.
3. Battery life
Both last longer than ever, because the new processor is – in addition to three times as powerful – also more energy efficient. The Galaxy Watch7 easily makes it to the end of the day. The 40mm version has a capacity of 300 mAh and the 44mm variant has a 425 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra even comes equipped with a whopping 590 mAh and has a number of features to extend the battery life. With the Power Saving mode it lasts up to 100 hours, but that also turns off quite a few functions. In the Exercise Power Saving mode it can last up to 48 hours.
Temporarily with free extra watch strap
Which one suits you best? The Galaxy Watch7 is available from 319 euros. If you prefer the advanced Galaxy Watch Ultra, you will pay 699 euros. For a limited time, you can buy them with a discount on Samsung.com, because until July 28 you will receive a free extra watch strap with your purchase.
For the Galaxy Watch7, this has a value of 49.99 euros and for your brand new Galaxy Watch Ultra even 79.99 euros. You also get an additional 50 euros trade-in value with the Galaxy Watch7 and 75 euros with the Galaxy Watch Ultra.
