Share your opinion without being asked, launch a bird with a slingshot or call the Good Saint. These are this week’s best Android apps and games.
These are the best apps and games of week 47
It’s Sunday, so it’s time to end the week with the best Android apps and games of the moment. We list them for you below and cover everything from the latest social media to classic mobile games.
1. Bluesky
Twitter has changed considerably after Elon Musk’s takeover. First of all, it is now called X, but the amount of moderation has also decreased considerably, which unfortunately makes the platform more attractive to internet trolls, 18+ content and negativity. Many users therefore lack a platform to share their thoughts and opinions.
Although Instagram Threads appeared earlier, the new app Bluesky is now targeting Twitter’s old position. The app also lets you share, repost and like posts, but within a feed of users who have the same interests as you.
This way you can engage in online discussions in a fun way, hopefully without being booed. We are curious how popular the app will become.
2. TED Tumblewords
Maybe you know TED Talks. The organizer of those presentations is committed to development, research and education and is now also releasing its own smartphone game. In TED Tumblewords you look for words in challenging puzzles, with the aim of training your brain.
By checking in daily, you stimulate your brain a little each time. In between the puzzles you will learn fun facts. Please note that you need a Netflix subscription to play Ted Tumblewords. Although you can download the game, you must log in first.
3. Call Santa
The Good Saint is back in the country and it is nice to know that your child (or you) can call him. You do this via the ‘Call with Santa’ app. Let the app know some things about your kids, such as their favorite food, hobbies and favorite color, and Santa will then call them personally.
The children can also let Santa know what they would like on Christmas Eve, or which chocolate letter they would prefer to see in their shoe. When it is December 5, the app can even reveal where the Petes have placed the parcels. That certainly adds some extra fun to the evening.
4. Angry Birds 2
It may be one of the most iconic smartphone games ever: Angry Birds. And it’s now been 15 years since the first game in the series was released, the same year that the Motorola Droid, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 and the HTC Fiesta were released. Do you feel old yet?
The original Angry Birds game is no longer available in the Play Store, but Angry Birds 2 is still available. In the game you of course attack the base of green pigs by flying into them from a catapult with various birds. Don’t know Angry Birds yet? Then this sounded very strange.
5. Leonardo.Ai
Generative AI has been available for a while and is getting better all the time. While AI images looked clearly fake two years ago, they are now often indistinguishable from the real thing. Last week we listed our favorite AI apps for creating images and Leonardo.Ai was a standout app on the list.
The app creates images that look incredibly realistic. Generating images is free, but if you pay you get extra features. Think of creating pictures with a sketch, changing images in videos and changing backgrounds.
