The 57th International Agricultural Fair was held in Svilajnec, an important event with a tradition of more than half a century. State Secretary Jelena Blagojević addressed the audience on behalf of the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dr. Aleksandar Martinović. She emphasized the importance of this event for farmers, providing them with the opportunity to present their production and livestock, as well as to establish new contacts and exchange experiences.
The international fair in Svilajnec is an ideal opportunity for agricultural marketing
Blagojević pointed out that the Ministry of Agriculture regularly supports such manifestations, which contribute to the empowerment of domestic producers and the promotion of Serbia’s agricultural tradition. She subsequently pointed out that the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry of Agriculture are investing extra effort to help agricultural producers in the best possible way. She particularly highlighted the mentioned current challenges, such as the decrease in the number of livestock and the consequences of the drought, noting that the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Ministry are making additional efforts to help agricultural producers.
“One of the activities we are currently carrying out is related to the budget rebalancing for this year, which will provide additional funds for the agricultural budget. Also, work is being done on the adoption of the Law on Amendments and Supplements to the Law on Incentives in Agriculture and Rural Development, which opens the possibility of making additional payments to beneficiaries of incentives for high-quality breeding heifers, in the amount of 100,000 dinars per head, as well as the possibility of recourse for certified seeds, in the amount of up to 17,000 dinars per hectare,” Blagojević said.
The International Resava Agricultural Fair is, as usual, organized under the auspices of the municipality of Svilajnac. The renowned event in question takes place every year on the grounds of the Agricultural and Veterinary School with the student dormitory “Svilajnac”. The fair includes several key categories, such as:
- exhibition of agricultural machinery
- animal feed exhibition
- exhibition of plant protection products
- exhibition of local food.
Also, an exhibition of Simmental cattle is traditionally held. We emphasize that the exhibition in question dates back to 1895, when it was first held in this settlement.
