The Acropolis Museum participates in the European Conservation Days

“The central concern of the Acropolis Museum is the preservation and restoration of the works of its collections, their preventive maintenance by ensuring appropriate environmental conditions and their presentation to the public in a modern way. To this end, it encourages research, takes measures to promote scientific knowledge and introduces innovative ways of presenting the exhibits”, informs the Acropolis Museum in its newsletter about the European Conservation Days.

“With the aim of including visitors in the above exciting process, the Acropolis Museum participates this year in the celebration of the European Conservation Days 2024 with the action “From the Soil to the Museum”on October 17, 18 and 20, 2024. It is a journey into the complex world of the preservation of antiquities brought to light by the excavation that spreads under the Acropolis Museum. The Museum’s conservators will share with visitors the methods and practices they followed in preserving the life of both the buildings of the ancient neighborhood and the objects found there, from the moment they came out of the ground to their display in the “Museum of the Excavation”, adds the Acropolis Museum.
