The all-electric Honda e:Ny1 SUV will be powered by new units from Vitesco Technologies

The EMR3 electric drive consists of a 3-in-1 unit that integrates power electronics, an electric motor and a reducer. It is the third generation of Vitesco Technologies’ integrated axle drives, with which the company has seen great success in the market. “We are honored to supply our electric drive to the new Honda e:Ny1. We also take this transaction as a confirmation of the success of our global strategy based on cooperation with established production and R&D sites in the most important markets around the world,” said Thomas Stierle, member of the executive board and head of Electrification Solutions at Vitesco Technologies.

Despite its compact dimensions and low weight (only 76 kg), the drive for Honda achieves a maximum power of 150 kW and a torque of 310 Nm. These parameters allow the e:Ny1 model to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. The European e:Ny1 model will be available on the market from October 2023.

Performance and efficiency of a compact unit

Honda uses electric front-axle drive on its new e:N Architecture F platform. The new e:Ny1 model is a four-door B-segment electric SUV with a maximum range of 412 km (according to WLTP tests).

Thanks to its functional properties, the axle drive has become a very successful product for Vitesco Technologies. By June 2023, more than three quarters of a million units had already been produced since 2019. So far, the EMR3 system has been chosen by manufacturers of eight vehicle brands, and demand for it remains high.
