the anime will offer a reworked version of this cult arc

While fans have only just learned that the anime One Piece was going to mark a long break, they will be able to comfort themselves with another news: namely that they will be able to (re)discover one of the most cult arcs of anime in a new light. We tell you everything.

The One Piece anime gives a second lease of life to the Fish-Man Islands Saga

This Sunday October 13, 2024, One Piece has clearly hit the headlines in the world of japanimation. Fans were notably able to witness the tragic end of the fight between the Giant Captains of the famous Marshall D. Teach (aka Blackbeard) and Monkey D. Garp in episode 1122 of the anime, with the vice-admiral of the Navy who sacrificed himself to save Kobby and the others present on Ruche (or the pirate island, also known as Hachinosu in the original version).

But the key information of this day is obviously the announcement of the anime hiatus. Indeed, fans have learned that the anime One Piece was going to take a long break, and that the Egghead arc would not resume until April 2025. Sad news for those who hoped to see the continuation of the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates on the futuristic island of Dr. Vegapunk.

However, the anime’s hiatus One Piece doesn’t mean there won’t be anything left. Because after next week’s special episode broadcast on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the anime’s launch, fans will be able to (re)discover one of the most iconic arcs in Eiichiro Oda’s work, namely the Fish-Man Islands arc.
