In certain areas of Serbia, intensive sawing of larvae of the second generation of the apple weevil (Cydia pomonella) is underway. The presence of all developmental stages of common pear flea (At Cacopsy, strive). Protecting apples from leafhoppers and pears from fleas is crucial at this time, and experts have given their recommendations.
Apple protection
A visual examination of the apple fruits registered the presence of laid eggs of the apple curler (Cydia pomonella). Sawing of the larvae of the second generation of this pest is underway.
In order to prevent larvae from burrowing into apple fruits, producers are recommended to use insecticides:
- Laser 240 SC (spinosad) in the amount of 400 ml/ha or Traper in the amount of 0.5 l/ha (withdrawal period of 7 days),
- Affirm 095 SG, Telef, Mayor, Triton, Atletic 095 SG, Ema (emamectin benzoate) u concentration 0.25-0.3% (carenca 7 dana),
- Exirel (cyantraniliprole) in a concentration of 0.06% (withdrawal period of 7 days).
In the case of the early assortment, which is about to be harvested, in order to protect the fruits from storage pathogens that cause: brown rot of fruits (Monilinia fructigenes), bitter fruit rot (Colletotrichum gleosporoides) and soft fruit rot (Penicillium sp) and others, it is recommended to use one of the fungicides:
- Bellis (boskalid+pyraclostrobin) in the amount of 0.8 kg/ha (withdrawal period of 7 days),
- Switch 62.5 WG (cyprodinil+fludioxonil) in the amount of 0.8-1 kg/ha (withdrawal period of 3 days),
- Geoxe 50 WG (fludioxonil) in the amount of 0.4-0.45 kg/ha (withdrawal period of 3 days),
- Mili, Aserija, Feribot, Flux (fludioxonil) in the amount of 1 l/ha (withdrawal period of 3 days).
When applying chemical protection measures, you should take into account the expiry date of the applied preparations! Tretman should be carried out in the late evening hours due to very high daytime temperatures.

Pear protection
In some areas, such as Senta, the presence of all developmental stages of the common pear flea was observed (At Cacopsy, strive). High air temperatures reduce the effectiveness of pesticides, so it is recommended to bathe the plants with with a large amount of water to which dish detergent and vinegar are added.
This treatment is performed in the hottest part of the day because it aims to break down the honeydew, after which the larvae become very sensitive to high temperatures and die. It has a similar effect inorganic fertilizer Fesil, which is used in a concentration of 0.15%. These preparations do not have a withdrawal period.
