The arbitrary closure of the Balaton coast is over, all jetty gates will be dismantled

Dozens of Balaton boardwalks were freed from their closed gates, mainly on the southern shore of the lake, thanks to the decisive action of the water department.

Most of them already dismantled their jetty gates themselves after receiving the letter of notice, however, the gate bars and slats remained in place.

Civilians can help the work of the water department, which has few manpower and resources, by making sure that irregular gates do not return to the access roads leading from public areas to the lake.

At the beginning of the summer, the water department started removing illegal constructions on the eastern shores of Lake Balaton, thanks to which the stone dam between Balatonfűzfő and Balatonkenese became spectacularly more cultured. In the last week of June, notices appeared on illegal jetty gates in South Balaton, stating that the owners have five days to dismantle them, otherwise the water department will do it at a steeper price, at the owner’s expense. Where the entrance gate does not have a permit, it will also be demolished where it is in order, only the gate has to be removed from there.

On Lake Balaton, it is forbidden to put a gate or fence on the jetties leading from public land into the water, yet this law was not enforced for many years, even decades. The closure of such entrances has become fashionable, mainly on the south coast.

The Aquamagazin.hu according to his information, the water department granted a grace period to the person who requested it. There are still a few resisters, for whom the water department will take the necessary steps. There were also those who waited until the last moment, to see if it was just a matter of scaremongering, but in the vast majority of cases, the people involved opened their previously closed piers themselves.

Previously, the eastern part of Lake Balaton was next, it is expected that now, after the southern shore, the western shores will follow. In the first instance, the irregular gates must be demolished, but during the inspections, the irregularly erected piers will not escape the attention of the authorities either, wrote the Hirbalaton.hu.
