The arrival of DIGI is making the telecommunications market tremble. The low prices and all the conditions will certainly force other operators to have more ambitious offers. NOS has already started to depreciate… but is that a good thing?
NOS devalued by more than 4%, losing 80 million euros
According to Jornal de Negócios, the operator led by Miguel Almeida devalued more than 4% in this Tuesday's session. In terms of market capitalization, we are talking about a value that is around 80 million others. On the other hand, Bernstein warns that DIGI's "extremely aggressive" pricing puts pressure on the market.
Although this whole DIGI scenario seems to be of interest to users, as prices are lower, it is also necessary to see the position of operators in future investments, something that has already been warned by Miguel Almeida...
The entry of this 'player' (Digi) has terrible consequences for the country in the medium and long term, because it will put sustainable investment in the sector at risk. If it is true that in current technologies Portugal is the leader in Europe, I can guarantee that in the technologies of the future we will be at the bottom because there will be no conditions to invest.
It is worth remembering that prices for residential mobile service customers are between 4 and 9 euros/month (VAT included), with traffic starting at 50 GB per month, 200 GB per month or unlimited.
For fiber broadband Internet, the price is 10 euros/month (VAT included) for 1Gbps access and 15 euros/month (VAT included) for 10Gbps access (coming soon). You can find out more here.
