Blasphemousreleased in 2019, is widely considered one of the best metroidvanias of recent years. Between its first-class level design, its artistic direction as singular as it is mastered, its remarkably sharp mechanics and its rather demanding difficulty, the title has managed to seduce a community of particularly devoted fans. The Game Kitchen studio repeated this feat in 2023 with a second opus just as masterful which brilliantly followed in the continuity of its predecessor. And if you too loved following the Penitent in his quest for redemption, we have good news for you: Blasphemous II will be entitled to a biblical DLC which should arrive very soon!
This probably comes as no surprise to those who actively follow the studio’s activity on social media. Last month, the franchise’s official account posted a message on Twitter/X that, in all likelihood, already pointed to new content.
The bells toll again, Penitent One. Your patience has been a virtue, but you need not wait for much longer.

But it was hard to know what to expect, since this short video of a few seconds was particularly cryptic. We only saw My faultthe iconic sword carried by the Penitent One throughout the first installment, without any additional indication — except for a vague label ” Fall 2024 ».
New premonitory successes
As winter is now fast approaching, fans are on the lookout, and the most attentive among them may have noticed a detail as discreet as it is eloquent. Indeed, Nine new achievements (still anonymous for the moment) have just landed on the game’s Steam pagebringing the total to 55 achievements.
Since the additional content of the first opus also had new challenges for completionists, we can safely deduce that Game Kitchen is indeed preparing to announce a brand new DLC which should arrive in a few weeks at the most.
What does the DLC have in store for us?
The question is what the studio has in store for us for the occasion. To find out, we can base ourselves on the DLC of the first opus, entitled The Stir of Dawn. It added several new areas and storylines, each with new enemies and a memorable boss, as well as new skills to diversify the gameplay experience. But most importantly, it opened the door to a mode New Game +which allows the player to restart the adventure while maintaining the progress of his character… on condition of accepting a drastic increase in difficulty.
Since the first DLC was a huge success, there’s a good chance that Game Kitchen will stick with this formula. We can therefore expect an NG+ mode as well as new weapons. This hypothesis is particularly convincing when we look back at last month’s announcement: there’s a good chance that Mea Culpa will make its big comeback, to the delight of fans of the franchise.
It will therefore be advisable to closely monitor the studio’s activity in the coming days, because everything indicates that the Penitent is preparing to resume service as soon as possible.
It turns out that Blasphemous II is currently on sale on Steam. If you are interested in the game, you can already buy it while waiting for the DLC with a 50% discount, for the modest sum of €14.99 – a very reasonable price for a title of this quality.
