The second phase of the “Elena” bad weather that hit most of the country the previous three days is gradually receding.
Extreme phenomena did not occur and the problems were minimized, while where necessary the competent authorities intervened. People found the opportunity to enjoy the snow in the surrounding mountains and ski resorts, without the fear of being blocked or facing other unpleasant surprises.
With snowfall in mountainous areas of the country, the main phase of bad weather passed. Areas of Attica, Evia, Lesvos, Pelion, Boeotia, Corinth and Crete were dressed in “white”.
Which areas were dressed in white?
In the most mountainous village of Evia at 760 meters altitude, visitors climbed to enjoy the white landscape. “We were expecting a white day. Everything is comfortable. We want the snow for people to come and have a good time. And us and the children who went out to play” said a resident of the area to ERTNews.
Machines of the Municipality and the Region were on alert throughout the night. Roads remained open and drivers equipped with snow chains did not experience any problems.
Early on, the Eretria Municipality took action by distributing salt to the residents of the most affected areas, so as to ensure movement and limit any risks.
In the morning, the mercury stuck to 3 degrees Celsius in the Evia Strait. Many visitors took the opportunity to hike the white trails of Mount Dirfy.

Young and old preferred to take a walk in the snow-covered Hippocrates State and Lake Beletsi, as reported by ERT.
